This was easily Japan's best recon. plane of the war, fast and carrier-based, it could shadow American ships but was quick enough to escape if Hellcats caught its scent. Once Japan ran out of carriers, though, it was forced into the night-fighter role (C6N1-S) back home, with less spectacular results. A Myrt kill by a US Navy aviator on August 15 was the final air combat kill of WWII.
